People who are a fan of TikTok are also a fan of Dixie D’Amelio. This popular content creator has over 24 million followers on her TikTok account named dixiedamelio. 

The account is brimmed with interesting dance videos in collaboration with other popular creators such as Daisy Keech, Bryce Hall, and Charli D’ Amelio (who is also her sister). 

Moreover, until late 2019, she was also a member of The Hype House, which is a famous collaborative group on TikTok. In June 2020, she released her first single titled “Be Happy.”

Be Happy is the debut single of the TikTok star, and it has a very upbeat tune. It centers around tackling mental health amidst the global pandemic. 

The lyrics mention, “Sometimes I don’t wanna be happy; don’t hold it against me. If I am down, just leave me there; let me be sad. Sun’s up; I already wanna lay down. Friends calling – are you really tryna go out; no. 

Earlier in July, the star gave a teaser of this song when Dixie posted a video singing a cappella. Needless to say, the TikTok video went viral in no time and racked up more than 16 million views and 125,000 comments in just 24 hours. 

When asked about the song, Dixie D’Amelio said that she had an immediate connection with the song. The star wanted to share the true message of this song to others, especially the one of her age.

 

Dixie D’Amelio continued by saying that she is grateful for the people and opportunities she has been provided with. However, there are days where it is hard to be happy, and everyone has such days. 

Furthermore, she hopes that anyone who listens to this song is reminded that it is okay to feel whatever you are feeling. It is okay to have bad days. 

In order to make the track more lively, Dixie D’Amelio worked in a virtual studio alongside Christian Medice, a popular music producer who has previously worked with Halsey and P!nk.

Medice revealed that there are not enough songs that open up about mental health. Moreover, the producer added that he loves that the song is able to pass a serious message in a catch and upbeat manner while not coming across as corny and preachy. Medica, Billy Man, and Sam De Rosa are the co-writers of the song. 

Along with the message it delivers, the song is also special because it is the first-ever song that Dixie D’Amelio recorded. 

A Fun Behind the Scene Footage 

Dixie D’Amelio released the song was released on June 26th, 2020, and it has already collected over 32 million views on YouTube. On July 8th, 2020, the new singer posted a fun behind the scene footage of the making of the song. It starts with Dixie revealing bruise on her face she got from the port vacuum. 

She revealed that initially, the star was trying to check out the tool but later started to mess around with it, ending up with a bruised face. Dixie just hoped that make-up would work the marks, and her parents did not see it. 

The make did cover the bruises, but her parents go to know about it. But thankfully, she did not get into any trouble.

The entire video is set up in a beautifully massive house. Dixie D’Amelio is seen in different parts of the house – from bathroom, living room to terrace, and swimming pool. While the on-screen vibe of the video is gloomy, offline, everyone seemed to have so much fun.

There is a small stunt scene in the video, which the singer’s parents did not want her to do. They objected because Dixie is reckless and often clumsy and did not want her to get her. However, the singer practiced the stunt beforehand and ended up doing it perfectly. 

It was an underwater act. She also had to sing underwater, which is something that she had never done before. On the whole, it looked like a fun and special experience for Dixie D’Amelio and her parents. In small sections of the video, we can see her parents getting emotional seeing their daughter preparing for her first-ever single.
