History of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”

Previously, the renowned Hogwarts School of Magic taught its students a unique subject: Newt Scamander’s “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”

This one dude was an absolute pro when it came to wondrous beings, having gotten a shout-out multiple times in the Harry Potter novels, even as suggested reading for fourth-year students in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.” Did you know, though, that J.K. Rowling wrote this book legit? She did so under the pseudonym ‘Newt Scamander,’ publishing the illusionary book full of notes by Harry Potter himself, Dumbledore’s preface, and Rowling’s own bewitching illustrations. As if that weren’t enough already – every penny generated from its sale went toward helping those in need through Comic Relief.

Our intrepid hero, Newt Scamander, has come all the way from across the pond with a suitcase full of these fantastic creatures. But when a few of them make a break for it, it’s up to Newt to track them down and save the city’s magical community from an evil force. And get this – it all goes down seventy years before that boy with the lightning scar ever sets foot in Hogwarts. Watch as Newt embarks on a wild and witty journey to find and document all kinds of magical creatures, from the ones he’s been researching since way back in 1918 all the way up to the publication of his book in 1927. This is one adventure you won’t want to miss!

Short story

Newt teams up with Jacob Kowalski, a Muggle (non-magical person) who stumbles upon Newt’s mission. Joining the squad is Tina Goldstein, an ex-Auror and her sis Queenie. It’s time to get chaotic: they set out on a wild ride to hunt down the missing critters and sniff out who’s behind this mess!

At the same time, Gellert Grindelwald, a powerful dark wizard, is stirring up trouble and pushing the balance of power between magic folks and non-magical people to its breaking point. On top of it all, MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America) led by Seraphina Picquery, has it out for Newt because they see him as a risk to their magical secret world.

In a heart-pumping showdown to save the monsters and their city, Newt and their cohorts uncover an evil plot to wield wicked magic. In the dramatic denouement, Newt hits the road for his next mission: freeing a mythical Thunderbird in Arizona – setting the scene for what’s next.
