From Mr. Olympia to the Governor of California, The Journey of Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger is now one of the most renowned actors of Hollywood. Even though the actor started out his career as a bodybuilder, but over the years, he provided himself as one of the finest action stars of Hollywood as well. But he didn’t stop his career as an actor, as later, he became the Governor of California.

Born on July 30, 1947, in Austria, Arnold Schwarzenegger rose to fame after becoming Mr. Olympia and grabbing the title as the greatest bodybuilder of all time. After his Olympia title, he soon received offers from Hollywood, which boosted his career drastically. The first film that launched Arnold Schwarzenegger into the Hollywood scene is Conan: The barbarian, which is still considered as one of his films of all time. Thereafter, he appeared in films such as The Terminator and Total Recall, which helped him to make a mark for himself in Hollywood.

After delivering numerous blockbusters, and winning several awards, Arnold Schwarzenegger tried his hands in politics in the year 2003, and eventually got selected by the people like the Governor of California. After leaving his post as a governor in 2011, Arnold Schwarzenegger returned to the big screen to deliver another blockbuster, along with his old time’s friend, Sylvester Stallone, The Expendables. He also continued his Terminator series, as well.

His early years

Arnold Schwarzenegger had a rough childhood. His father was an alcoholic police chief and a former member of the Nazi Party. He was heavily ignored by his father, who preferred his brother over him as he was more athletic. Arnold Schwarzenegger also reported that he was heavily abused by his father in his younger days., and he was hugely demotivated by his father whenever he spoke about his dream of becoming a bodybuilder. As said by Arnold Schwarzenegger, he used to feel claustrophobic in his own house because of his father. His hatred towards his father and brother was so strong that he even refused to attend the funeral of his brother, who died in a car crash in 1971. His father died the next year, but Arnold Schwarzenegger refused to attend his funeral too.

Later, Arnold Schwarzenegger signed for small-time moves, especially those Reg Park movies, and also played a role in the B-Level Hercules movies., and the primary reason why Arnold Schwarzenegger played all this role was that he wanted to get out of his country. His future changed after he bet Joe Weider, who is the man behind some big organizations such as Mr. Olympia and Mr. Universe.

Arnold Schwarzenegger had a pretty sense of humor, and boldness which grabbed the attention of Joe Weider. After seeing promising potential in Arnold as a bodybuilder, Weider helped him to become a full-time bodybuilder, and eventually, Arnold went on to grab Six Mr. Olympia title, and five Mr. Universe Title.

After Immigrating to the United States in the year 1968, Arnold went on to improve his career as a bodybuilder and also helped bodybuilding to become a mainstream sport. He also shot a documentary named Pumping Iron, which showed his regime, which helped him to win the Mr. Olympia title.

It didn’t take much time for the Hollywood directors to notice Arnold Schwarzenegger. Within a few years, Arnold moved on to the big screen. He shot to fame after winning the title of the Best Newcomer for the film Stay Hungry at the Golden Globe award.

With his beastly physique and strength, Arnold was one of the best choices back then for mainstream action movies. He was chosen as the lead actor for numerous action films such as Conan the Barbarian, The Terminator, Conan the Destroyer, Terminator 2: The judgment day, Terminator 3: Rise of the machines, and many more.

He also appeared in some other big films such as Commando, The Running Man, Predator, True Lies, Total Recall, and many more. Apart from doing action movies, Arnold Schwarzenegger also used his gigantic physique to do some cunny comedy movies such as Kindergarten Cop and Twins.

In 1986, Arnold Schwarzenegger married Maria Owings Shriver, who belongs to the Kennedy Family. But in 2011, the couple decided to part their ways. The couple had four children out of which, one decided to walk the footsteps of his father, and became an actor. In 2018, his son acted the lead role in the Midnight Sun.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Life in Politics

In 2003, Arnold decided that he would run for the post of Governor, and he was successfully chosen as California’s Governor in a special election. He promised to bring balance in the economic condition of the state.

Arnold successfully delivered his promised when he was chosen as the Governor of the state. He eventually developed the economic condition of the state, and also promoted the protection of the environment, and new business ideas. Throughout his career in politics, Schwarzenegger referred Ronald Reagan as his inspiration.

However, his second term in his office didn’t run smoothly as before, but he didn’t leave what he promised and continued providing California with economic stability. In 2011, he left his office and came back to Hollywood.

After returning to Hollywood, he acted in films such as The Expendables, which also starred other actors such as Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Jason Statham, and Arnold’s old-time friend, Sylvester Stallone.

In 2018, Arnold Schwarzenegger went through some serious health conditions when he was operated for catheter valve replacement, which failed, and he was taken for emergency open-heart surgery. But the actor overpowered it as well. As reported, after coming back to sense, the first words that he uttered were “I’m Back,” which is one of the most famous dialogues from his Terminator Series.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is all set to release his new movie Terminator: The Dark Age, which he briefly spoke about during his appearance in the Jimmy Kimmel show, which aired on October 29.
