Esportz4u is a web design agency that has been around for over 9 years. They have done work for clients such as Activision, EA Sports, and GSN Games in the past. Esportz4u was tasked by an unknown client with creating a website for a new FPS title in development at Valve.
How We Know About Esportz4u?
Esportz4u was not pleased with the final product and decided to leak it for free on anonymous imageboards. What we know is that they presented this project at a local Malta design conference in March 2011. The only info out there about this project is from a now-removed thread on a forum, as well as a deleted thread on Neogaf. Esportz4u deleted their website, but the internet never forgets.
The first thing you’ll notice is that it’s running off an engine called Source 2.0 – interesting to note here is that the original leaked Dota gameplay footage appears to be coming from a very similar build of Source 2 and appears to feature the same HUD. This suggests Valve was directly working on Dota 2 at this time, and possibly since far earlier than we previously imagined. Dota 2 was not officially announced until 2010 – which would mean that sometime between 2007-2010 might be when development started in earnest for them.
